Get evaluated. Recover sooner. There’s no need to risk your health or your case.
Every year, hundreds of millions of people experience neck pains. Sometimes it is because of a onetime injury, like a car accident which causes whiplash and sometimes it’s a result of years of strain from posture, disc degeneration or nerve compression. That little nagging stiffness or headache can become shooting pain, numbness or movement limitations that get in the way of everyday activities.
Prompt assessment isn’t just a matter of convenience: It’s about identifying hidden reasons for your symptoms before they get worse, documenting your condition and getting a treatment plan that helps you get back to work, exercise and normal function — with confidence.
Whether you are in a lot of pain or “just a little stiff,” a professional diagnosis is key to any pursuit of long-term relief.
What Is a Neck Pain Evaluation — and Why Is It so Vital?
An in-depth neck pain examination searches for these other injuries and conditions which might not be immediately apparent. These might be disc herniations, spinal misalignments, arthritis, nerve irritation or just a muscle problem.
Pain isn’t the only thing you can get ahead of by addressing these issues early. This is nothing to do with “fighting infection,” of course: It’s about regaining your ability to move, trying to stave off the chance of future complications, and ensuring that you’re going to be cleared for work, exercise, or surgery. And for others, testing turns up hidden problems — for example, nerve compression or ligament tears — that do not cause symptoms for years. The sooner you’re correctly diagnosed, the sooner your relief and recovery can start.
Our Neck Pain Services Include
X-Ray Workups
Refined imaging is a diagnostic cornerstone of neck pain relief. For more advanced imaging, if a patient shows signs of having fractures or dislocation, arthritis or misalignment, we identify those with X-rays and refer for an MRI or a CT scan when we need a deeper look.
Anti-Inflammatory Medication
Short-term use of anti-inflammatory drugs can help reduce swelling and pain while a long-term care plan is devised.
Muscle Relaxants
And then there’s our pesky neck and shoulder pain – thanks to muscle spasms. Prescription muscle relaxants may help relax the muscles and relieve stiffness in conjunction with physical therapy and other treatments.
Spinal Injections
Since pain frequently begins in inflamed joints or pinched nerves, injections aimed directly at the source of the pain can deliver treatment while also offering valuable diagnostic information.
Radiofrequency Ablation
For chronic neck pain from nerve irritation, radiofrequency ablation may be able to “turn off” the pain signals, providing longer-term relief and allowing patients to reduce or eliminate their medications or injections.
Spinal Cord Stimulation
It provides an advanced treatment for patients with chronic, severe pain that has not responded to other treatments by reducing pain perception and improving quality of life.
Physical Therapy
Movement is medicine. Workouts and exercises targeting mobilization, prevention of future injury, and rehabilitation to help with recovery.
Additional Evaluations & Care
Lien Based Preoperative Workups
If we need to go to the operating room, we do a full medical clearance to make sure that you’re safe to proceed — not just for orthopedic procedures, but for any operation.
Managing Underlying Conditions
They weren’t well enough for surgery and may have a chronic condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure or something else that makes them ineligible for immediate surgery. If we keep the conditions, then you can continue safely.
Psychological Clearance
Prior to advanced therapies such as spinal cord stimulation, psychological clearance verifies safety and preparedness.
Telehealth Visits
We are also doing teletherapy when we can and will add appointments on our schedule when the time is right medically and based on the protocol for our facility, but we caution that an in-person assessment is superior and both necessary for accurate treatment.
Typical Causes of Neck Pain & Conditions
Whiplash & Strains
Rapid movements of the neck can injure the soft tissues and joints, and may cause stiffness, headaches and continuing pain if not addressed.
Disc Herniations & Bulging Discs
Discs can impinge on nerves from trauma or degeneration, leading to arm pain, tingling or weakness.
Arthritis & Spinal Stenosis
Arthritis in the neck and narrowing of the canals can leave you stiff and with nerve symptoms.
Muscle Tension & Poor Posture
Desk work, spending hours on the phone and stress frequently introduce a long-term strain that requires correction.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Although uncommon, nerve and tissue injury may induce chronic pain syndromes that need to be treated quickly.
3 Reasons to Get Screened Early
- Stealth symptoms: Pain, or tingling, might not manifest for days after the injury.
- Faster recovery: The earlier the care begins, the faster and more complete the results.
- Good documentation: Proper records will help the treatment plan and your case.
