The HPV virus is an infection that is sexually transmitted from person to person. It is the most common STI (sexually transmitted infection) and though sometimes the symptoms may go away on their own, when they don’t, they can cause a variety of different cancers including but not limited to cervical, vaginal, oropharyngeal, and anal among others.

Los Angeles HPV Vaccine | GARDASIL 9

GARDASIL 9 is an HPV vaccine that helps prevent the previously mentioned cancers due to the human papillomavirus (HPV). This vaccine is available for both males and females between the ages of 9 and 45 years old to help prevent this disease from taking root.

GARDASIL 9 is an HPV vaccine Los Angeles available, and helps to defend against HPV types 16,18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58, pertaining to oropharyngeal, vulvar, anal, and vaginal cancers as well as other neck and head cancers.

GARDASIL 9 does not however, replace the need for screening for oropharyngeal, cervical, vagina, vulvar, or anal cancers among other neck and head cancers. If recommended to do so by a doctor or other health care professional, screening should be done in order to make sure no cancers are present. This is because while these cancers can be caused by the HPV virus, they also have other causes that are not related to the HPV virus.

GARDASIL 9 also does not give protection from HPV types that are not covered by the HPV vaccine, and cannot prevent HPV types if a person has already been exposed to it by means of sexual activity.

GARDASIL 9 is a prevention method not a treatment. It will not help any genetal lesions pertaining to head and neck cancers, cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, anal cancer, or vaginal cancers among others. It will not help or treat CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia), AIN (anal intraepithelial neoplasia), VaIN (vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia), or VIN (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia).

GARDASIL 9 is not guaranteed to prevent HPV in recipients, however it is proven to be just shy of being 100% effective according to cancer.gov.
